Ponyo Review

Ponyo

So I saw Ponyo a while back in the Paramount Twin theater. I was excited to see it becuase I love Studio Ghibli Films. If you are not acquainted with Studio Ghibli, some of their movie are Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. If I were to campare those films, I would compare them to fantasy Disney movies.

So Ponyo, is a indeed a fantasy animated film. It is a story about a girl fish who meets a little boy. They evetually become friends and they go on an adventure to save the boy city from destruction from a sea magician. The girl fish, while traveling with the boy, has a desire to become a human like him. I don't want to give away the ending so I'll let you see it yourslef.

Overall I thought the movie was charming. Definitly not meant for all ages to see, mainly for kids aged twelve and lower. I'm sure the adults would enjoy it too. The main great thing about this movie is its wonderful art style. All scenes from the movie are 100% hand drawn animation.

So If you are up for a good fantasy movie, go see Ponyo!
